Just want to see what you guys are doing to put the 4.6L to work. I will be getting a 22-24ft TT once I decide on the model and I will be hauling some dirt to help a friend. I wanted to see how the 4.6L does for you guys. And for all the speed demons I like slow and safe so speed is not what I seek with a load.

Lots has been posted here on this. Because of all the variables...gears/tranny/mods/TT weight/truck style etc..

Match TT to your truck. Stay within your load limits. The 4.6L does its job. Im my case...i had truck before TT...later, found out i wanted more power...did some mods...that helped alittle. I did match TT to my truck. Also used wt. scales (no guess work)

The only time i would really like to have more power (towing) is going up long/steep grades. Of course..altitude hurts. Anyhow...when fully loaded i'm 4-500# under max. ratings.

I usually tow around 60mph (flat) could go faster...choose not to. There are still areas out here posted 55mph (trucks/towing) but i kinda think the speed signs today are just a suggestion?

We have a 97 F150 with the 4.6 V8 and tow a 24 ft fifth wheel that weighs 6500lb. No problems at all, it tows great! We added a transmission cooler before our fist outting.

 

Today I hauled some top soil with my 97" 4.6L. When she was all loaded up the rear end really squated down which I admit I was concerned if she would handle it. But once I pulled onto the road she was running like a champ and asking for more. What can I say I should have known after all she is Built Ford Tough.
