Trailer Brake Controller Location
I'd like to hear inputs from F-150 owners about where they mount their brake controllers. I previously had a controller mounted in the trinket holder (or whatever it's called) to the right and below the steering column. My new Tekonsha Prodigy controller obstructs my right knee when mounted in the trinket holder where I had my last controller mounted. The Prodigy must be mounted in parallel to the drive path and within 0-70 degrees attitude. It also has a quick removal pocket-type mount, which is a nice feature when you don't want the controller visible to would-be theives, but this makes the controller stick out more when mounted in the trinket holder. I hate punching holes in the dash, so I'd like some opinions on the best spot for mounting.

I have an 01 F150 I mounted my brake controller on the left side of the steering column at the bottom of the dash just between the hood and e-brake release. there is a metal bracket just under the dash it is not the easiest to get to but the only place to really mount to. good luck
I attached mine to the fuse box cover on the left side of the steering wheel. I'm 6'3" and don't have any problem with it there.
You also don't really see it from inside either. Keeps the middle section cleaner looking, IMO.

I'll second the vote for the fuse box cover... mine is there too, and I managed to whack my knee exactly once (but I was cleaning the windshield, so it doesn't really count!).
Plus, when I sell the truck, I can pick up a new fuse box cover cheap!

I mounted mine directly below the hood release. It pivots on it's mount, so when I want to open the hood, I just tip it down and pull the handle. Works great for me, plus I can reach the adjuster without much trouble.
I used different lengths of rubber gas line and lag bolts. You gotta look close to tell. I still tie a bandana aroung it to stablize against the door.

I used a patch of velcro that fits the entire top-side of the Tekonsha unit and stuck it to the panel directly above the center floor mat (below the radio -- but as high up that panel as possible). I can see the lights, can reach it when I need it, and best of all, it isn't in my way.
