Question A Fifth Wheel For A SCrew

Does anyone know if there is a fifthweel trailer made that you can tow with a SCrew? I thought I saw one in a campground last summer in Utah. But when I walked back to talk to the guy he was gone. I have since read that there are no fifth wheels made that can be towed with the SCrew because of the extra short bed. Any thoughts?

You don't have many choices. Take a look here: www.titaniumrv.com/info.htm Even their smallest trailer is kind of heavy for a 1/2 ton. You may also ask here:

One other though to consider. Ford does not certify the SCrew for 5th wheel towing. Even if you found one to work, check very carefully with your insurance agent, and make sure that the policy sates 5th wheel on a Supercrew.
Those Titanium trailers are for show only on an F-150 in the ad. They weigh too much anyway. You'll need one with an extended pin and a slider hitch.
If I had a Screw, I would opt for a travel trailer and buy the Hensley hitch to get the stability of fifth wheel towing.
Good luck!

Hey Linetest,
See you have been hanging around the IRV2 conference as well.
I would love to have a Titanium trailer. I live about 50 miles from the plant that makes them and have friends that work there.

i just can,t make the wieghts work though and stay legal. The pin weight of 1300Lb alone takes just about all of the trucks capacity.

With a Gvwr of 6600# minus the truck weight of 4700Lb leave 1900LB minus the pin weight of 1300 leaves 600#. I have a wife and 3 teens and a hitch and fuel and stuff.... Well I am already overloaded. With the bumper pull trailer I can meet all the numbers as well as the gross combined weight. I have talked to dealers and can get a sliding 5th wheel that will work but that sounds like a lot of monkeying around just to back in safely. And then there is no room for error in a accident avoidance or jack knife situation in case of a skid.

I ordered this truck for maximum towing capacity of a Supercrew and no 4X4 or 17" wheel to distract from that.

Hi MikeL.

Ive seen screws towing 5th wheels but dont recall brand of TT. I remember one was not big..maybe 18ft. long?

Have you seen these...www.pullrite.com (superGlide)

They should be able to give you info. and answer your questions. Pay attention to how these actually work. You may already know...just passing on.

Good luck....OT

Thanks for your input guys! I tow a 25' travel trailer now but I am always looking to the future. I love the truck and would like to keep it for a long while and fifth wheels seem to have more options as far a floor plans go.
