What exactly is Load Leveling
Is it a Class 4 and 5, or is it an attachment for any hitch? How does it work? Do they help for any trailer or tounge weight, or only heavy rigs. All I know is that they keep the rear from sagging as much under load.
A load levelling hitch uses two torsion bars between the trailer and the hitch on the back of your truck. I won't get into all the details but
a) you hook your trailer to your truck in the normal manner
b) you use the trailer tongue jack to lift the trailer tongue (ant the hitch and the back of your truck) up high enough so that you can install the torsion bars.
c) you insert the the torsion bars into the hitch... there are slots for the bars. The other end of the bar usually has a couple of chain links that fit into a clamp on the trailer tongue. You then close the clamp and the bar will be under slight tension.
d) You now lower the tongue of the trailer. As you do, instead of causing the back end of your truck to droop, the torsion bars cause the load to level out. In effect, you are putting a heavy duty spring between the truck and the tow vehicle.

Check this link... drop down the page a ways and you will see the torsion bars used to level the load

Good info and I agree - but - the load levelling bars are not torsion bars - torsion bars work by resisting a twisting motion (ie torque). The 4x4 front suspension has torsion bars for springs.
The load levelling bars are simply spring bars.

Are you talking about load leveling suspension? That's what I read from your post but I just wanted to make sure. Everyone else is talking about weight distibuting or other equipment used in towing.
