Wiring for electric brake controllers...
Guys,
I'm riggin my truck up for an electric brake controller (Draw Tite Activator II).
Since I bought the truck used, I don't have any confirmation that it has the towing package in it. It's a 99 F-250 LD with the 5.4L (Lariat). Seems pretty much loaded (3.73 LSD, trailer hitch and 7-way wiring harness in place already).
I'm *assuming* it has the towing package (given the hitch and trailer harness appears to be in place).
So, in hooking up my electric brake controller, I need to know where the factory plug for this is. Generally it's in the glovebox or that location; Any ideas of where it is in this truck?
Pat

On an f150 it is on the bottom edge of the dash panels in the area of the gas pedal. There may be a diagnostic plug in that area as well so don't confuse them. You will need the plug and harness that you wire the controller up to which them plugs into the plug under the dash. If you have a used truck the harness may be missing an you will need to get one from a ford dealer.

Here's what it looks like:
The gray connector in the center of the picture is for the controller.
The controller pigtail may have five wires. Usually only four are needed. The fifth is for a light, if the controller is so equipped.
You should also check for the relays in the PDU box under the hood. Unfortunately, I don't have their locations. One relay is for the battery charge circuit. The other is for backup lights.
