Should I get pillar pod for tranny temp etc??

I was thinking about getting the pillar instument cluster so I could put a tranny temp gauge in it. What do you folks think? I guess I could set the other pod up for the trailer battery charge status or something.

BTW and I hope I am not breaking the board rules. I found a great site for RV info. It has a great board. Almost as good as this one!!!

Unhappy Trans Temp Gauge

I bought a gauge from Summit Racing yesterday and had a perfect place to install it in the dash, but when I took it to the transmission shop I got bad news The guy there said that the sensor would have to be installed in the pan by drilling a hole and brazing the fitting into it. ...... Just seems to be too much trouble and cost. .............. Any other thoughts on another method of installing the sensor. BTW it's a 2001 5.4.

Hi

That at temp. guage is one ill still do..if i keep my truck. In the dash with the mech. guage and manifold/T.

It was posted either here or trans.bd.(5-01)? Various install methods/guages and where to mount the temp. sensor. I think there was even an install right into the actual a.t.

Pillar (pod) mount....on\in console...in the dash below instu.cluster, that was nice install...cut round hole for guage etc.

Anyhow...also different opinions as to where to install...the one that made the most sense to me was to install the temp. sensor in the "OUT" line from tranny...before it goes thru the coolers. Their were opinions on in the sump...but the out line seemed better.

The trucker that posted that was GAH...from Hi. It worked well for him etc. Others also posted with pics.

One kind.. a.meter guage..with a manifod that installs in the hardline. A.meter guage #2615...manifold #2287 for 5/16"line.
Those are old #. As i recall mech. more reliable than elect. gauge.
Of course there are other guages.

Anyhow, if those guys are still around they might update?

If you install...maybe you could update...guage#s, cost etc.

Good luck...OT
