Need help with 5th wheel hitch install on buddys '02 F-350 dually!! ASAP
Buddy just bought a dually and needs a 5th wheel hitch in it, but the problem is that there is too much stuff on the side of the drivers side frame to put the brackes, like rivets for the shock brackets, were is the best place to put the hitch? drill throught the top of the frame and put spacers between the fram and bottom of the box?? need help ASAP, thanks guys!!!! (oh yeah its a rail hitch, not a slider)
Our 350 4X4 PSD just used the reese brackets. The hitch should have a couple of places to put bolts through. When I get home, I will take a look at another guys truck and see what he has done. I know some go through the frame directley, But I dont think that would be as strong. Just remembered, you could put the hitch center about an inch or 1.5 inches toward the front of the vehicle, that could help. Just my thoughts, its hard to remember without being able to go look.
when wee moved it ahead of the axle, the bolts would be throught the box gussets, heance the frame brackets would not work, moveing it back meant that we would have problems with the rivets, I guess there is no happy medium
