Question Trailer wiring or truck wiring?

I have a '00 Lightning. I installed the relays, plugged in a trailer brake controller using the Ford supplied harness for the under dash plug. Trailer is a early 90s era Pace 24 foot enclosed race car hauler.

two issues I have are:

1. Blinkers on trailer work in reverse to those on truck (i.e. trucks blinking right, trailer blinking left) Taillights and brake lights work fine. Is it the trailer or the truck's trailer wiring? Bought trailer used so I am guessing it's the trailer.

2. The auxiliary lights on top that outline the trailer don't go on, and I saw them work with the truck from whom I bought the trailer. Again, regular tailgights come on when truck's lights are on. Did I miss plugging in a wire into the controller or something else?

I think you are correct on #1.

The clearance lights should be on the running light circuit. I think your truck is set-up right.
If you can, attach the trailer to another vehicle, and your truck to another trailer. My bet is that the trailer is messed-up.
Are you sure the trailer brakes are working?
Do the clearance lights turn on when the truck is in reverse or with brakes applied? If so, they are wired to incorrect pins of the connecter.

Good luck.

Thanks for your input Jimb, I'll check it out further. My suspision is someone probably didn't follow proper pin out protocol all the way from the previous owners truck to the trailer. I will post my findings for all to learn.

If the truck that used to pull that trailer is a Dodge that might be the problem. They have their own wiring that is not "standard".
