Connecting brake controller ???

My 2000 F150 did not come factory equipped with the towing package, so I installed the Class II hitch receiver and now I need to connect the brake controller. I had a 98 F150 before this one that did have the tow package factory equipped, so I had used the factory connector for the brake controller. I looked in my 2000 truck and it has the same connector under the dash and I am wondering if it is wired for power etc. If it is, can I connect my controller to it and is there a place to connect the brake connection already wired into the truck wiring harness to the rear of the truck? I currently have the standard 4 wire connector on rear of my truck and need the 7 pin connector with the brake connection wire. If it is in the harness some where it would greatly reduce the work required to install the brake controller. Thanks for any help.

Like you, I bought my truck without the tow pkg. I found all the info I needed on this site. There are several diferent items to consider, relays, fuses, wiring. Do a word search and you'll find your answers.
