HOw much can I tow
I have recently purchased a 97 250 LIGHT DUTY, it is a supercab short bed with 4x4 and the 5.4L engine in it
I have posed this also in the ENGINES section of the web site the I found the TOWING section and thought I would try my luck hear

According to trailer life, http://www.trailerlife.com/towratings/tr99_ford.cfm , the 1999 F250LD 4x4 SC could tow 6,700lb. I think the ratings were about the same for '97.
Remember, this is the difference between the GCWR and the empty weight, so decrease this by the amount you are carrying in the truck.
