My friend and I are going down to the smokeys for a few days to go ride. We originally thought of renting an inclosed trailer for $75 a day but I don't see why we can't haul both bikes in the bed of my truck. Has anyone ever done this? How did you tie them down securely? Its about 550 miles so they need to be stable. I have the flairside with the cleats mounted on the sides of the bed. I am not even sure if they are strong enough for ratcheting straps. HELP!

I agree with max mitchell, get better bed bolts for the bed. I used a ratchet strap to tie down some bulky stuff and could see the oem tie downs moving. Too bad you were not in NC, buddy and I bought the following trailer last year and it sits in storage most of the time. Would have let you use it for next to nothing.
