Well everyone, I appreciate all the advise and insight to this thread. I went ahead and pull the trigger this weekend and traded the ol 5.0L for a 2013 Ecoboost with Max tow. Wow, really nice truck. Basically same setup as I had before and a few new features to go with it. That 3.5TT can move, "Awesome"!!! I very happy so far and feel a lot better mentally as far as towing goes. After I break it in I'll hook up new toyhauler and give it the real test, but I can already tell that it will be a good difference from the 5.0L. Again, thanks for all the insight.

What is the max payload number on the new one? You may still be over limits unless you also got the HD payload package.

Step down?? I am guessing you have never owned a 2011 or newer 5.0L or Ecoboost nor every towed with them?

You should be okay - but remember that payload is both tongue weight and EVERYTHING added to the truck except a 150# driver and 1/4 tank of gas. Even if you are a bit over, you should have a very stable tow as long as the WD bars are correctly adjusted.

Yeah, but I'll bet it still has the same hitch with the #1050 TW limit using WD??

Thats exactly what the OP needs to hear after purchasing a new truck. Idiot. Like you even have a clue to what your talking about. Stick to driving your 12 year old relic and leave the comments about how the ecoboost tows to people that actually have experience with it.
To the OP, Best of luck with the new truck!! You won't be disappointed!!

You should be fine . I have the Max Tow pkg but with all my trucks options my payload is 1700lbs. My trailer is 6500lbs (dry) and after loading up for a weeks trip i went to my local Cat Scale and I'm still under all my trucks ratings. My trailer weighed in at 7540lbs(loaded)...

Its actually 11,500 tow and 1150 hitch as per on the receiver hitch label.
So I have a little bit more hitch capacity.

Thanks. BTW, Nice Rig and Setup you have. I'll have to post some pics of my setup to this thread after it all hooked up. Thanks to all who gave me helpful and positive insight.

Well, that's yet another bet I would have lost!

Cool that they upped the hitch rating too... My 97 has a #1000 TW limit on it's OEM hitch with WD...

Good luck with it all and enjoy!

Mitch
