Air bags and WD hitch combo

After towing 3 different camper and three different suspension set up, your storage guy is crazy by advising you against bags! I have overload springs plus bags and it's the only way to haul with a 150. With my old bumper hitch trailers I'd set the bars then hit the bags till it just started to lift the truck, this method took all the bobbing out of the trailer and it felt no different than with the bags down. Now I set the bags the same way with the 5th wheel, oh no yes I said I tow a 5th wheel with my half ton (sturring the pot ).

On the tire subject these trucks with there tow ratings should come from the factory with at least D tires. Mine has ran E's from the tire change and that is push 90,000 miles. Every 150 owner I've talked into D's and up tires have thanked me after the change.

I guess you didn't read what I wrote. He advised me in a different direction. He could have easily said " yeah you need air bags! Here is the price of blah blah blah..." He had me check the simple things first. As it turned out, it was simple solution to the problem. It did cost a bit more than air bags but then again a blow out due to improper TV tires at highway speed could have been more costly. Turns out this did the trick for my trip and I am satisfied way things worked out.

1/2 ton 5er. Yeah seen that before. I know there are ratings for them in the towing guides put out by Ford and the other manufacturers. As a matter of fact, 4 times while going to Disney. 2 during the ride down. 2 at Fort Wilderness. Noticed one thing though. All TV were Toyota Tundras. The 2 at the Fort were in the loop I was staying in. One of them was located across from me. Honestly, I didn't know there were 5ers smaller enough for 1/2 tons. I personally would go with a larger TV when the times comes. However, I would consider a F150 HD pkg but its only within a 100 pounds of the base F250 payload. At that point, why not get a 250 and get the heavier truck.

Your truck been a 1999 is pretty far towing wise of the newer one.
Pretty sure you were over your limit with that truck towing a 30ft TT.

My 07 2wd, 5,4L, 3,55gear as no problem towing and braking my 7000lbs toy hauler.

Dude I wasn't trying to ruffle your feathers but air bags would be the best investment you would ever make on a 150 towing a camper.

Maxpat, 6000# wet weigh. I wanted to get smaller but the trailer I have has a nice layout and most trips are within 60 minutes from my storage location. Originally, my wife and I were going to buy a hybrid that weighed in around 5500 wet. However, my wife thought it would have better hard sides for our daughter's bed.

90454SS, no feathers ruffled. no worries.
