I know this is an old dead thread, but I recently bought a small TT (1860 LB dry) and was surprised at how terrible it felt towing at highway speeds. I have an 04 4.6 Scab 4WD with 3.55 gears. I think Mike up has it right with the 4 speed being an issue, and even more Mitch150 with wind resistance. I have towed our much heavier 21ft boat way easier than this light TT I have, and the biggest difference is that the TT sits at 8'9"(it has a 6" lift kit factory) and it is like pulling a wall, where as the boat's shape and height are better suited to pulling through air. I was just looking for other's experience to make sure nothing was wrong with my truck. I don't think weight is the biggest factor when it comes to pulling speed, it is aero.

As an aside for the ones that claim the 4.6 should not be in a truck, I bet you either don't have your 5.4 anymore or it has already blown up and cost you big to fix. The 4.6 has enough power to get done what most people need, including towing. It is more reliable if a little slower.
