Trailer and Tractor

Well I bought a 20' double axle trailer, did the wiring on my truck, and rebuilt the trailer. Total cost $1500 for everything.

The truck pulled it just fine... even up crazy grades with a small Kubota 2660 with FEL and calcium filled tires. But all I can say is the P3 is one hell of a brake controller!

Here it is being pulled by my truck:

That is a sweet set up. Nice trailer and tractor.

I almost asked if you had a transmission cooler, then I remembered who you are and what type of transmission your truck has.

Thanks!

People think my trailer looks sick. I like how low it sits... almost like a minature lowboy.

Yes, the manual transmission did way more than excellent. The 4.10's were able to make me drop no lower than 4th and stay most of the climbs in 5th. It's saweeeet!

Sounds like u got a good deal on the trailer. That's awesome. Can't tell by he picture, but do u have an actual hitch or are u using the bumper? Just know some of the xl's don't have a tow package, but seeing that u are a contributor to the site I would assume u have the actual hitch.

Nice tractor and trailer, but just a little friendly advice ditch the ratchet straps and invest in some chains with chain binders for hauling equipment because nylon straps stretch under load and chains don't. I can also see the bucket cutting the straps the way you have them run under the bucket like that and you having a costly learning experience as you watch your tractor roll of the trailer in the rear view mirror.

Yeah I did. And yes, I have a hitch capable of handling 10k running 2 5/16" ball pulling this trailer.

I'm all running a Tekonsha P3, and the trailer has a break-away unit.

I know. :o

I need to get myself some chains.

I just took it easy and didn't play hokey-pokey while going around turns or accelerating too hard or braking too hard. But, ya never know what others might do.

Yes... if you are familiar with some of those hills, then you know what I'm talking about, lol.

I live down in Vernon... like right off rt 5 then keep following it from Seneca Turnpike by Sunyit where it turns into rt 12... but I'm out by Vernon Downs area of rt 5/Seneca Turnpike.

Probably a good 45 to hour drive to Evans on rt 12 from where I am...

Nice 2660, Manual. I have the same setup with a 60" MMM. Yours must be a 2011? Mine has the single cylinder for the bucket curl on the loader. Im just shy of 400 hours and love it, but it's going in the paper soon as I'm looking at a B2320 or larger.

Nice I used to work with those a bit at the heavy duty rental place. It broke down less than the 420 excavators and such they are pretty reliable units. But please use chains because straps are worthless with this kinda stuff it has to be bound down good. hell here the dot will pull you over for using straps...

yupp I know exactly where it all is and yes those hills can be bad, especially while towing.

You would not believe the people that use ratchet straps!!! We had a cop pulling over a lowboy semi with a front end loader on it. Had it tied down with heavy duty ratchet straps.

I know people that ratchet strap their race cars in NEUTRAL. Screw that!

I'll ratchet strap my riding mower. EVERYTHING else gets the chains!!!
