Trailer Running Light Problems

In looking for some suggestions:

My boats running lights don't operate when connected to my truck (they do work when connected to other trucks).

My running lights on my truck operate. Where do you think I should trace this back?? I can not find a fuse for running lights (is there one?).

Thanks for any suggfestions,

Tim

tnesbit-
I have had a little utility trailer, that I use to haul lawnmowers around, for about a year now. I also had this problem where the running lights would not work on it. About 3 weeks ago I was unloading the trailer at night. I had left the lights on my truck so I could see what I was doing. I reached down to unplug the lights, gave it a tug and out of the corner of my eye I saw the running lights come on for a split second. I figured out that if I plug the harness in and then pulled it out just a little, the lights work. So I guess if I were you, I would go out and play around with it to see if this fixes it. I hope this helped. Justin.

My truck did the same thing. I have the factory tow package. There is a yellow (20 amp) fuse in the power distribution box under the hood that was burned out. Look in the owners manual for the fuse location.

yes, there are those two possibilities... either the fuse in the distribution block, or a bad connection. Also, use a test-light and check the plug. On the four-flat connector, the exposed terminal is the ground, the one next to it is the running lights, and the other two are the turn signals. Start there and check the fuse.
