Unhappy 4.6 / 3.08 / 5 Speed

Ok, I find that this is probably the worst towing set up that I could have. Question is what to do... I like the truck. Anyone every change a manual to a automatic? I know that the gear has got to change. Or if I change the gear to a lower gear can the manual and the clutch stand to tow about 4,500 lbs? It does it now, I just know that the clutch wont take it for long though.

With all of today's electronic gadgetry, I doubt you can even drop an auto into the truck without spending some major cash.

I've found it best to change trucks to meet your needs. This is my 3rd new ('00 or '01) truck in less than a year. I think it's what I need. The tax-man & Ford love me!

I had a 95 with the 4.9, 5 speed and 2.73. Towed a 1500lb camper for 3000 miles and didn't have a problem and the clutch was still good when I sold the truck.
