Question Mirror extensions

Does anyone know of a supplier for "slip on mirror extensions" that will fit a 2001 Supercrew with the turnsignals built into the mirror head(Lariat). I need a pair so that I can pull a 7500# enclosed car trailer-can't see past the trailer without them. Also any feedback on towing this weight of trailer would be appreciated-5.4-3.55 gears. Will it perform in the hills.

Cool

If you check I think that trailer will be above your max.

This is off the Coachmen site.

If you figure it out your max is around 72-7300.

Check the Ford catalog they carry some, I got mine at the parts counter.

Cool

Thanks for the mirror tip. I'll try the local dealer. The best gear offered in the Screw is a 3.55 and with this they rate it at 8000# for the 4x2. I guess I'll find out shortly.

Question

oldkoot: I noticed you've got a 2001 SCrew. Have you taken possesion of it yet??? With the amount of weight you're pulling, I was wondering why you just didn't go ahead and get a Superduty Crew Cab instead????

Speaking of mirrors, I too am looking for a way to extend mine!!! I bought my truck as a daily driver then went out and bought a 30'Travel Trailer. I can't see jack back there If you get those extenders, please post back and let me know what you think of them.

Tina- Had a 92 Chev C2500 ext cab with a 305,3.42 gear and it pulled the trailer fine except in the hills, had to run 2'nd gear to hold 50 mph at 3000 rpm. My two boys are getting too tall to sit in the back for any distance and most of our trips to car shows are 300-500 miles so for this reason we went with the Screw. The 5.4 at 85 hp more and obviously more torque should get the job done with less effort. I thought the S/D CREW would be too long in the wheelbase for general purpose driving and I'm not a diesel fan. We only tow 2 or 3 times a year .The Screw also fits in the garage better!! I'll post a reply if I find the correct mirror extensions but I think you need a different style for the S/D F250?.

We went past Brockville last weekend on our way back from the east coast. We curently have the 4.6l but will be getting a Screw next month with the 5.4l. Your numbers are coorect at 8000LB towing capacity. Looks like I am getting the same package as you have just got. Our current truck is rated for 7000lb towing and we are maxing it out towing a trailer with a 5300lb dry wieght. With luggage kids supplies and dog I must be right at 7000lb. With the new truck I will have some extra. I am in agreement with you that even though a 7700 package may be better
I only tow for 2 or 3 weeks a year. We put on 4000km towing in the last few weeks and the truck performed well.

You might be able to use the strap on mirrors. I use them on my Superduty. They work reasonably well although they vibrate a little. About $13 each at Camping World. com

Looks like they're on sale. Search for mirrors for other options.

I've seen the strap on mirrors but as you say they vibrate at highway speed. If I can't locate a supplier of the slip on extensions, may have to go that way.

I got a pair from my local Ford Dealer. Fit like a pair of gloves, 2 right hand gloves.

I got two right side mirrors in the box. And one was defective. Gave them back to the parts dept and a new set, hopefully right and left, should be here any day now. Hope it comes by Thursday, I going on a 550 mile round trip with the trailer.

Looks like a good mirror, i just wonder if the mirror will loosen in it's socket. It swivels on a ball mount. No way to tighten the tension so I woonder after a few adjustments if the thing will start to wear and tilt forward cause of gravity.

Cost about $85.00 a set.

Can you post the Ford part number for the mirrors. My dealer claims they dont have a mirror extension kit for the Lariat(turn indicator built into the mirror housing)and I noticed that you have an XLT.

It's been a month, I've followed every lead to a dead end. Looks like changing the mirrors will be the easiest, not the cheapest solution. If you are looking for an extendable mirror try www.lucerix.com .With a little paint to match the truck it shouldn't be very noticable the change.

With much help from Skyjet, we have determined that the mirror CTM 11600 from **** mirror will fit! You can trim the edge of the plastic slip on head to be able to see the turn indicator on the Lariat. www.cipamirrors.com. I will be picking up a pair this weekend.
