5th Wheel Hitch
Yes, its looking more and more like I'll be pulling a bumper hitch. Oh, well, its hard to not be happy with a new SCrew!! We'll be lucky to have ours before New Year's. I hear they shut down in Kansas for almost a month for Christmas break. So unless ours is finished before, we're stuck. Would be nice to have it for Thanksgiving! Four day weekend (state job) to go visit or grand daughter down in "Historic Old Bisbee". So now your's is TWO days old, still love it?

ASUSCrew:See, that's why Ford makes so many different models of vehicals: One of them is bound to be the right one for you. Sounds like yours will be perfect IF you match your trailer to what your truck can handle. It's to bad you're so far from NC because this state is auctioning a bunch of travel trailers at www.doa.state.nc.us/ssp/bidsnet.htm
YEAH!!! 'Scheduled To Be Built Week Of November 13th!! Time to go shopping for a trailer.
FYI: Travel Lite makes FW that is only 90 inches wide...

I have seen TWO Supercrew truck's running around here in Calgary, Alberta(Canada)with 5th wheel trailers behind them. I did stop and see one parked and it looks like they had put on about a 6" adjustable extension on the trailer neck and a adjustable hitch on the truck. The guy said that when they get to the camp ground they are going to or any tight spot on their journey, he just pull's a pine and slides the hitch back about 8" and backs it in where need be.
He said that this is a brand new idea and so far he says that it works great...so before anyone tells you that the Supercrews are unable to pull 5th wheels, maybe just wait a bit and see whats happens...I saw 2 over the summer up here!

Even if I could make it work I would be afraid of having to make an emergency manover. The thought of jackknifing it into the back of the cab does not thrill me. You are right though I will wait to see how this develops or plays out in the future. Right now our old 31 foot bumper pull works great for us.
You know, if Ford is building/selling as many of these things as they claim (and I believe they are) some trailer manufacturer will come up with something just for us.

Just to through another opinion in here. Here is Trailer-Life's answer to the same question posed to them...
* As long as you stick with the manufacturer's tow rating and don't exceed the vehicle's rear gross axle weight rating (gawr), then today's new crop of four-door crew cab and other shortbed trucks will work fine for towing suitably sized fifth-wheel trailers.
You have to make some special equipment arrangements when using a shortbed truck with a fifth-wheel. Most fifth-wheel trailers are at least 7 feet 6 inches wide, and most fifth-wheel hitches are mounted close to the center of the truck bed, usually over the rear axle. With a shortbed truck, that can mean 3 feet or less from the pivot point to the back wall of the cab.
When the truck is turned at an extreme angle to the trailer, the front corner of the trailer can contact the back of the pickup cab.
Many fifth-wheel trailers can befitted with a pin-box extension that moves the trailer back from the pivot point. This is one good step to take when considering a shortbed truck; consult with the trailer manufacturer about such a pin box.
Several hitches are available on the market that can be manually unlocked and slid aft for more turning clearance when parking or driving in tight spots. PullRite/Pulliam Enterprises (800-443-2307) sells an expensive but very effective hitch that moves with the trailer as it turns. It automatically slides back in the bed, moving the trailer with it, to provide more clearance in a turn, then moves back over the axle when driving straight ahead. The PullRite hitch is an elegant solution to the problem of towing with shortbed trucks.

Tiron...You just said the majic work "PullRite".
The one supercrew that I had seen pulling a 5th wheel trailer was sporting a hitch that said "PullRite" on it!! The gentleman that owned the truck said he was very very pleased with the set up and had no problems with the hitch setup.
So there...for all of us Supercrew owners, there are products coming avaliable for us to pull 5th wheel trailers...just a matter of time and money.....PERFECT!!
