Wind deflector
I'll be hauling a 20' US Cargo car hauler behind a SCrew with the 5.4L. The front of the trailer is slightly curved but does catch a lot of air. Would a "wing" type air deflector mounted on the roof be of much benefit at highway speeds? How do they mount to the roof? I only tow a few times each year with trips in the 300-1000 mi. range each time.

oldkoot, have you priced them yet? I'd like to try one too, but only found ONE in a catalog. I think it was around $1,000. My horse trailer is about 10' high, and flat across the front. If you find more info, post it here, OK? Thanks

oldkoot - I've hauled a 22ft 5th, for 4 yrs now. Saw a "wing" at the flea mkt in Mesa a couple of yrs ago. I thought I might try one, but in talking to many other "haulers" they said that they were only good over 60, or 70 mph. Some had had them on & took them off - they were "A. P. I. T A$$".
BTW - I used to work for B&D in Bockville - Lived in Carleton Place & covered East Ont. Good to see a signature - "from the old stamping grounds"

If these wings save 1 mile per gallon and
the cost is 10 cents per mile ($1.50 / 15mpg) and
they cost $1,000
wouldn't you have to tow 10,000 miles to break even?
At 300 to 1000 miles per year that would take
10 to 33 years.
After 33 years of towing with an F150, the only thing left would be the wing and that's how they end up in the flea market.
