Question Double Duty Tranny Cooler?

This Shovie owner told me it was best to go ahead and install an additional tranny cooler even though FORD says one is installed as part of the towing package, another would help, anyone out there do something like this? Have more than one?

Hit the search button for a thread on temperature and transmission. A couple of folks have added temperature gages for the tranny -- and if you have concerns over temperature, the best way to put yourself at ease is with facts -- so consider adding a temperature gage -- and then you'll be in a better position to opine than your Chevie friend.

Too much heat is bad. Too little is bad too. Adding another cooler might be okay so long as the fluid temp doesn't drop too low. As Y2K suggested a tranny temp guage would be good. If the stock tranny cooler doesn't do the job, then change it to a larger one instead of adding on another. Another cooler means more clamps and connectors. The fewer you have, the less chance for leaks and maybe less back pressure.
