Towing

I have a 1999 F150 Supercab 4.6L, V-8, 4x4. I am getting ready to move cross country. Would my truck pull car hauler (approx 2210lbs) loaded with a truck weighing 3480 lbs without any problems? Would it handle ok? Thanks.

If you don't have the tow package on your truck, then probably not. If you do have the tow package, maybe. You would be pushing it.

The short answer is, yes it will handle the load.
I had a 97' F150 with the 4.6L and I towed a similiar load on many occasions. The 4.6L got the job done just fine on the flats and did ok on small inclines. But if you hit any large hills or Mtn passes your going to slow way down. Dont be affraid to get the RPM's up as that is where these engines make there power.
Also befor you head out change out all fluids especially the tranny fluid if you have not done so in a while.

The truck will be fine. The motor, and possibly the tranny will be your weak points. That's a good motor but it's not a work-horse.

I just towed my mustang
truck weighs 5500
trailer 2200
car 3000
and the truck pulled perfectly
1 problem was a monster hill and truck had to go from 65 to 53 and downshift to 2nd
I also got 13.5 mpg round trip for 775 miles

yeah
I was pretty impressed, i just put hellwig air bags and brake controller on
the car was originally a 4cyl swapped to v8 so we got a donor car from within 5 miles of the tuning place
my dad had to borrow my uncles 08 diesel and that only got 14.5 mpg, so I was expecting around 11. 13.5 just blew my mind.

It will do fine. My 4.6L has pulled 8200lbs to my farm and back. Don't think you have to worry much about that load, don't know about your truck but my sticker says I'm good to pull 7000lbs, legally.
