Best setup
I have a 2005 FX4 Regular cab.
Planning on pulling a boat out of the water (ocean in Caribbean). There's no ramp of some sort but straight white sand beach.
The boat is about 9000 - 10000 lbs.
What is the best setup? I'm thinking the following but give me your ideas.
O/D off, low4, gear 1.
And yes...I know...I'm pushing it.

There is no way a #6000 truck is going to be able to haul out a #9000 boat from the water from a beach sand boat ramp... If it was a nice concrete ramp with ridges in it and was not all slimy, in 4lo, it could do it....
Once it's out, what's the plan for it? You certinally wouldn't want to drive it on the road with other traffic, would you?
Good luck and take some pics if you go ahead with it!

If you are going to try it, 4WD low and lock first gear. OD does not matter if you are locking first gear anyway. I agree with Mitch that traction will be an issue on the sand. If you get it to pavement, then 2WD and OD off, let it shift up through 3rd gear.
So howd it go? if you havent done it yet id say please dont, for your trucks sake. that much weight is going to make the trailer sink, and there no way your truck can pull it out, i dont care if your in 4x4 lo or whatever. also, with a boat of that weight, im gonna assume it has a moderately deep draft, so to be able to drive it on a trailer your gonna have to back your truck in pretty deep to get the trailer deep enough, so your likely going to have to submerge part of your truck in saltwater. loose wet sand is going to then make your truck sink if it sits there for more than a few seconds.
im not trying to be a jerk or anything, just give you some advice from a decently experienced boater

I know I'm still pushing it, but I think this could be done.
alright man well if your absolutely set on dong it then good luck. Im gonna be impressed when you pull this off. just make sure to watch your trucks and trailers tires in the sand. the second either start to sink throw it in 4x4 and get out of there fast. if the trailer is holding you back ditch and and come back for it later. that traler is a lot cheaper than your truck.
I'm not too concerned about sinking in the sand since I've seen many trucks pull boats out of the same situation, but usually it's a F250 or bigger. So my concern relates more to the power of my truck being able to pull the boat. It should be able to pull 5000-6000 lbs.
