Towing with Leveling Kit

I need advice on proper set up.Currently I tow a 2000lbs tent camper in the near future a travel trailer. If I install a leveling kit will the trailers cause the back on the truck to bog down?If yes...what is the remedy?

The travel trailer will likely cause the truck to go nose up with a leveling kit. You could either put an add a leaf in the back or you could do air bags

With any more than a few hundred pounds of tongue weight, the rear will squat and lift the front too high. I added a leveling kit and found air bags to be the best compromise solution rather than an add-a-leaf. The empty ride is just like stock with the air bags where the add-a-leaf will add some stiffness. I tow a large TT and I really like my setup. Do what suits you best. Here is what I did:

Airlift Air bags and Load Controller II

Towing with a leveling kit is not a good plan unless you are going to do AAL, air bags, or helper springs. I had mine level and it towed like crap. Ended up dropping it back down.

I agree, "leveling kits" will reduce the safe towing limits significantly.

I can't imagine why anyone would install one, you never know when you might need to tow a big load.

It looks like that is the best way to do it. Do you still have some rake with the add a leaf?

Wow people. You might as well just tell him he made a horrible decision and he's ruined his truck!! Its just an effing leveling kit!! You'll be just fine. A two inch block spacer on your front springs isn't going to do anything. Making the front of your truck go up doesn't mean the back goes down.... It may look a little funny, but don't worry about it. Tow away!

It seems there is not a consensus on this. Thanks for your input.

i installed a level kit but also installed a block to keep a slight rake. it works just perfect for me. i also tow a 8200# tt and with the block adding the rake it works the way i wanted. never does my front end nose up. keep that in mind. if you level its smart to add something to the back.

mine is leveled and pulls just fine. i pull a 2600 lb pop up and you can barely notice a litttle "squat" in the back. Still tows great, i am going to get a bigger tt soon myself. just like BXK109 SAID, TOW AWAY!!!

Okay, not to be rude, but 2600 Lbs is hardly even towing. I have a flatbed that weighs that empty. Not bashing, just saying. Also, as previously stated, if you are going to install a leveling kit, add some air bags, AAL, or helper springs. If you do the air bags or helper springs, the truck will look level all the time, it just won't sag when you tow. AAL will lift the back permanently which is not really the look your going for if you want "level." Be very cautious towing weight over 3,500 with a leveling kit. If you don't modify the back somehow before towing, you're asking for it.

You will be fine. My truck has been on about 3 780 mile round trips hauling a jeep wrangler when we go off-roading with a leveling kit. It squats the back end some, but you will be fine. Maybe later down the road you can add aal's or air bags to help keep the backend level when towing. But for now you will be fine.

Looks fine both ways and tows no problem. Actually I think it does better with the level and AAL than before I installed it.
