Tow Hitch

Newbie question I think.

My truck is an XL. It doesnt have the hitch (or the ball on the middle of the bumper, that the hitch?)

I'm considering adding one for future prospects. Where can I get this part? Is using the one built into the bumper the best bet? I'll only be towing a small trailer for snowmobiling.

Thanks in advance!

If you're gunna do it, why not add a receiver hitch that will handle any type of towing you want? Up to your limits of course.

You can find frame mounted systems all over the place. Start with eBay and check what is available for your rig.

You might also consider an after-market trans cooler if you want to tow heavier loads.

Anyone local selling truck accessories ought to have them, I got a Draw-tite one for about 200. I don't think you need more wiring than the 4 pin that should already be there, just for lights. I don't think using the bumper one is the best idea, but in a pinch it'd work.

Bor basic receiver hitch, I find that U-Haul has the best prices. I think mine was around $200 with install. Took less than 30 minutes.
Go to www.uhaul.com for details.
Good luck.

Trailer hitches are a simple bolt-on accessory. You can do it yourself with hand tools. U-Haul is a bit overpriced for what they sell. Check out etrailer.com for hitches made for your vehicle.

I just sold a trailer hitch locally on craigslist for $50. There are six bolts all pre-drilled. You an easily bolt it on in 15 minutes.
