first tow with my truck tommarow

so im scheduled to tow my frineds fried dough trailer tommarow about 2 hours from home. he tried to convince me that it would b fine with my trucks brakes as the stoping power(hes done it before) but towing a 4500 pound trailer worried me. i went out and spent about 90 bux on the controller i think its worth the saftey. my service enigine light just came on so im a little worried about that but im going to have it checked before i leave, any advice or tips on towing would b appreciated thanx

While I did tow something like 8-9k pounds once using the truck's brakes only, I don't recommend it. You made a wise choice.

Tips? Give yourself extra distance and drive at a comfortable pace. if the trailer starts to wag, manually apply trailer brakes, not truck brakes.

As I recall western NY is kinda hilly.

It reminds me of a trucking company that was hiring driving pairs to keep their rigs on the road 24 hrs a day. One driver slept while the other drove.

The examiner interviewing Bill & Frank, gave Bill a hypothetical...
"You are driving down a steep grade, at the bottom of the grade is a railroad crossing, a slow moving train blocks your route, you discover that your brakes have completely failed...WHAT DO YOU DO?"

Bill says, "I'd wake up Frank."
Examiner, "What? Why would you wake up Frank?"

"Because, he ain't never seen a wreck like this one."
