Just to be clear....the 7700 package is the heavy duty payload package, raising the GVWR from about 6500 pounds to 7700 pounds. It is indepenent of the towing package.

Here are the contents:
7700 Lb. Payload Group “A” (V-8)—Includes:
—GVWR—7700-lbs.
—Powertrain—5.4L engine with 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and 3.73 axle ratio (when
snowplowing, operate automatic transmission in overdrive)
—GAWR/torsion bars, front—4150-lbs.
—Upgraded radiator (1.42” core thickness)
—72 amp-hr-650 CCA battery
—Auxiliary automatic transmission oil cooler (14-plate)
—LT245/75Rx16D OWL all-terrain tires with BSW spare
—16″ x 7″ J argent styled steel wheels (7-hole disc) (chrome styled steel with XLT and Lariat)
—Other heavy duty components—frame (4.00 cu. in. section modulus), shock absorbers (1.38″
diameter), jack (2-ton), rear axle (5300-lbs. capacity), rear springs/GAWR (4800-lbs.)

All F-150's since at least 1997 have at least the 4-prong trailer conenctor. The Towing package got the 7-pin wiring.

With the Hidden Hitch recevier and 4-prong connector, I'd say ypur truck does not have the OEM towing package.

Are you tring to add a brake controller?

The stock frame mounted receivers, even on the Super Duties are of the "hidden hitch" design. Meaning the 2" square mount is attached to the bottom of the main hitch tube and you only see the 2" square mount from the rear. It's a Class 3 rated hitch and Class 4 when used with a WD setup.

If the hitch is indeed the brand name "Hidden Hitch", then it's aftermarket, but could have simply replaced the stock one for whatever reason.

You should be wired from the cab to the rear bumper for trailer brake functionality, assuming the round 7 pin is connected to the factory harness.

There is a connector under the dash where the brake controller itself will plug into. You either use a pig tail connector from Ford and splice it to the BC wires, or just buy the connector from the Brake Controller manufacturer and then it's just a plug and play deal...

There are also some additional fuses and relays for under the hood that go along with the whole "tow package" deal, but you can find that info out from the 'sticky' post in this forum..

Good luck!

Mitch
