1st haul.....Nice story!!!!
Hey guys! My dad finally found the bay boat he wanted. We got it from a guy who was going through a divorce in Ponchatoula, La. So I volunteered to pull it home to Vicksburg, MS for him since I wanted to see what my truck was made of anyway. It is a 24 ft. Skeeter bay boat w/ a 300 Yamaha on back. The guy tells my dad that he is basically closing this chapter in his life. He put ALL of his fishing stuff in the boat and basically GAVE it to us. Inside the boat there were 4 bait casting rod-and-reel combos, 2 anchors, a survival bag, and 3 lifejackets!
So we hook up to it, top the tank off, and hit the Interstate. I took some of you guys' advice and kicked the O/D off from the get-go and it worked fantastic. The truck pulled great and the ride was smooth. We only went 175 miles but it was a great haul. From my estimates, I only burned a smidge over a half tank. I thought that was pretty good given the size of the boat. I estimate that the boat weighed 2700 lbs but you guys can check out the pix in the link. I have the stock towing package and I just got a 2" receiving hitch at Wal-Mart and that was all she wrote. Man I love my truck!!!
