What do you guys think?
pretty expensive for a small non permanent camera, i mean since it isnt solidly mounted (even if you did it would look like crap) you wouldnt use it much except for probably hooking up a trailer or putting it on an rc car to spy on people lol
its a cool little camera but not very cost efficient if you ask me, maybe for someone who tows alot
id be interested in an actual back up camera for my alpine hu

Yes, if you tow once a year.... this is probably not for you. IF you tow ALOT, then this is a great tool.
Who cares if its big and ugly? All you use it for is hooking up to the trailer and then you put it away. It is not meant to stay on the truck all the time. I tow 4-5 times a month and have license plate dents from rushing to hook up.

Permanent camera would be nice, but what I like about this is you can take it from truck to truck, use it on a friends truck, throw it on the back of the trailer, wherever

The video of "The Crash" is great! In the beginning the dog is all happy wagging his tail, then after the impact he comes slinking by the camera with his tail hung low and ears down like he's embarrassed by his owner!
Pretty decent night cam though.

Well I tow alot for a living and I don't know that I'd be sold on this particular model with the only exception of it being portable. I drive any one of our 15 trucks pulling trailers up to 45-50' long. I could see throwing this on the back for hooking up or on the back of the trailer for the really tight spots.
Now my big hangups on this unit, besides the price, (as its very simple to piece together a comparable system for less) is the fact that its wireless. In my experience wireless cameras are flaky at best when trying to transmit through alot of steel in a vehicle. I routinely use lipstick cameras, which is nothing more than whats used here, to see different areas of the combine while its running. I tried a few different wireless systems and the signal would either be intermittant or extremely low quality picture to the point it was hard to see anything. Now there are good wireless systems out there, but the price is way up there. While wired is more work (though can still be very portable) it tends to be much more reliable. The kicker is wired systems give you much more bang for your buck in terms of quality. They are also easily wired into an in-dash DVD player.
I know that for the casual tower this would be an ok system, but for me I'd rather have a permanent mounted camera on the truck and simply have a plug at the back to hook in an extension cable and 2nd camera at the back of the trailer. Maybe look into offering a modular system where you can pick and choose the components you want.

Very cool little camera and I like the fact that I don't need to run anything or mount anything permanently.
But....I'd never spend $300 on something like that. I'll stick with the tried and tested "back up a couple inches, run out and check, repeat" method.
