Camper Tie Downs

Hi All,

May long weekend is this coming weekend (Canada anyways) and i will be done building my camper just before. The problem is, i will not have time to have belly bars put onto my 07 F150 Supercrew FX4.
My camper is an 8' with half of an over head and will weigh 800 lbs loaded and soaked (just rebuilt from the ground up as light as possible).

Will this be OK to tie down to the 4 box hooks in the bed of the truck? How sturdy are these hooks? I won't be offroading it will be highway to cabin and then parked. Basically i just need to get by this weekend with out ripping these tie down hooks out.

Any Thoughts?

Thanks

One other thing, is it illegal to not have the camper secured to the frame?

I don't know about the legalities now a days, but 'back in the day', my Dad used to rent 8' cab overs for his brand new 1971 F250 and us kids used to ride in the cab over part for hundreds of miles...

All he ever had was the 4 bed hooks, BUT it was also BOLTED thru the floor of the camper thru the bed with 4 big a$$ carriage bolts in each corner..

That seemed to do the job at that time!

It was fun being in that overhead while going down the road however! Too bad you can't do that anymore...

Good luck!

Mitch

you should be fine just using the cheap / quick mount to the front of the bed
