Snapped these at a Wal-Mart in Oklahoma a while back.

Not at all. Around here and in PA/WV I see it all the time. Ive seen like 38 ftr 5th wheels. Not really but some realllly lone 30s....

I dont think our truck would hate us that bad. However nothing I would do. We just bought a TT and were looking at 5th wheels however I felt too much wear and tear.

About that though, the 24ft 5500lb trailer we just bought was pulled by a Nissan frontier.... Think about that V6 like 250hp TOPS... And small frame.

There are quite a few 5th wheel TT's on the market for 1/2 tons.

wasn't really talking about whether a 150 can. Just a funny picture of that tiny truck with a 15K hitch and a play off of some of the other threads where people say that they can't.

It's not "can't" - it's "shouldn't".

Just stay below the limits and you'll be OK...

Problem is, most 5ers will be over our F-150 limits. Particularly the pin weight. But they do make 5ers that work. SOme of them are only 7.5 feet wide. Most are less than 24 feet long and a slide is really tough to get in a 5er modle that can be handled safely with a 1/2 ton.

Have you guys shopped around for new trailers lately??? Let me tell you this...trailer manufacturers have stepped up their game in the past year or so with the 1/2 ton truck market, especially with 5th wheels. There is actually quite a huge selection on dealer floors geared towards this market. The hitches are also designed to work well with 5 1/2' beds. It's no longer the market you think it is. Last time I looked around at them I was impressed.

I was always told 1/2 ton and 5th wheel don't mix. It isn't that they can't pull it, its more the design of the trailer's. Or at least that was my understanding.... but from everything I read today, I would have to agree with Galaxy and say trailer companies have come a long way and are starting to design 5th wheel trailers with us 1/2 tons guys in mind. Like said before, just try to stay in your trucks load range.

Might just be in there for looks! ha, ha!! I don't see any grease on the coupler, so I can't imagine that he does any 'serious' towing with it....

However, he does have a nice customization to his rear bumper!! NICE ONE!!

Again, I hate to repeat it, but just becasue the GVWR of the 5er seems to be OK, its the pin weight that you have to be concerned about. Most 1/2 tons don't have a huge capacity to add weight to them. Yes, you can tow something behind you that weighs 7000 pounds but if it has over 900-1000 pound or so pin weight you will, more than likely, have exceeded the capacity of your 1/2 ton.

So, there are NOT very many 5ers out there that we F-150 owners can tow safely. Some have pin weihts below 1000 but not many. And once you throw in a bunch of stuff the pin weights just go up.

I hauled a 2007 Laredo 30BH with a 2004 5.4 F150 without any touble. Now I traded both for a 2008 Laredo 30BH Canadian Extreme Edition (This mean 16'' magnesium wheel and a 2.5'' sticker on the side of the door) and a 2008 5.4 F150... I can't wait to try them next summer !

I took this on a school field trip. It was in the walmart parking lot while we were eating at McDonalds. It has a air spoiler on top of the car.
