Scan Gauge II

I installed the Scan Gauge II last night in the truck. Very easy to install and now I have real-time tranny temp, water temp, dist to empty and real-time mpg shown on the screen. Worrying about how hot the tranny is getting is over. Only thing the unit doesn't currently offer is oil temp. I believe its an available signal, Scan Gauge just hasn't added it to the list yet. Hopefully soon.

Paid $159 shipped through eBay. Seems pretty worthwhile to me to know what my fluid temps are doing and now having a real trip computer as well. It can also pull codes if ever needed.

Question

How do you access the transmission fluid temp?
I understand there's some codes that you have to key in?

I've got an '07 FX2 with the 5.4L. The unit sits really nicely at the base of the steering wheel column right in front of the gauges. The only thing it covers on my truck is a little placard that says 'sport' on it. Not sure what's there on other models though. It sits between two smaller round gauges and doesn’t block them at all. I was able to run the wires up under the panel above your knees below the steering wheel and plug it into the back of the gauge. There are abs. no wires showing at all. I even played with the custom color setup and matched the green tint of my interior gauge lights really well.

To measure tranny temp or anything else they currently have codes for is pretty easy. You just type a long sequence of numbers. It takes a good 5 minutes the first time and less after that. The directions are very straight forward.

I drove 2k mi total this weekend and towed 1k mi. The gauge proved invaluable. It is worth every penny in my opinion knowing real time mpg, distance to empty and while towing tranny fluid temp. Water temp is nice too, although it only moved 5 deg the whole weekend!

Yep. Agreed. Mine is mounted the same way - good line-of-sight location while doing the usual speed / gauge checks.

This thing is very sweet, especially with the new extensibility X-gauge enables.
