Trailer Brakes

I bought the hopkins 7 way round adapter to install on my truck. Got the lights plugged in and the other wires spliced in behind the harness. My question is will I have trailer brakes with just the relay installed or do I need a brake controller??
Thanks

Prodigy is the way to go. I can't believe how good it works. The Prodigy is the third brake controller I've used and you almost can't tell the trailer is back there when braking.
