brakes

I am looking into renting a trailer and am curious about the trailer brakes system.. does my truck already have the trailer brakes taken care of or is there something I have to buy to make them work? I have an 05 Screw with tow package..

Thanks..

You will need a brake controller. Here is a selection of them: http://www.etrailer.com/c-BC.htm Note: I have never done business with this company - I am only using the link for demonstration purposes.

I'm guessing you're talking about a travel trailer? If you are then yeah, you'll need a trailer brake controller. You already have a wire in your 7pin harness for the trailer brakes, you just need the trailer brake controller to connect to that wire to tell the trailer brakes how hard they need to be applied. Double check with wherever/whoever you're getting it from to make sure. Some trailers have surge brakes that you don't need a controller, but I doubt you'd see them on a travel trailer.
