10,500 LBS towing Capacity

I keep on seeing adds for the F-150 that has a towing capacity of 10,500 lbs, and the payload of 3500 what options would you have to have and what truck. I keep on trying to build one on the website but the most payload they say is around 1700. So anyone know?

Try using the 5.4 as the only option, other than highest load range tires. But, it's a half ton truck - 10,500 would be REAL high... as would a 3500# payload... 1 3/4 tons = 3500#, while 1700 is just short of 1 ton... 1000# real payload with a couple occupants and some gear.

That figure is only available on the 4x2 regular cab with the HD payload rating. That vehicle has an 8100 GVW.

that rating is with the 4X2, long bed with 4.10 gearing.

If you pull the charts on Ford's website, you can see where they come up with the numbers.

4.10(3)GCWR 15,300 15,800 – 10,500 144.5Wheel base
(3) Requires Heavy Duty Payload Package (late availability).

I was wondering about that, too

Seemed like the F-150's numbers shot up a lot all of the sudden. I mean, there haven't been any real changes between '04-'07 and now the same truck can handle some big numbers. It makes sense that the numbers went up for the base truck with a 4.10, but it doesn't seem like any of the other versions got increases in their payload or towing capacity. I find it hard to believe that going to a taller rear-end would make that much difference. Especially considering I've accidentally put 2200 lbs (rocks) in the bed of my SC, which is rated at "only" @1600. I say accidentally because to look at the truck you wouldn't have known it was even carrying much weight. The suspension hadn't dropped much, I figured I was well below max. I'm convinced Ford conservatively rates these trucks. They really are Built Ford Tough™!
