Magnaflow exhaust and towing results
I intalled a 16612 cat back on my 07 SCrew a couple months ago and finally had a chance to do some towing with it. Since this truck was new when I installed the new exhaust, I can't tell you if there was any noticable difference in power.
I towed my travel trailer (5000lbs) for about 2 hrs. and the exhaust was noticeable but not annoying in any way. However, last weekend I was towing some compact utility tractors on a 30' trailer with a tow weight close to 8000lbs (verfied on the scale). I was very impressed with the way the truck pulled and handled; much better than my previous Chev. What did drive me nuts was the exhaust noise in the truck. It was fine on the highway where you were at a cruising speed but on back roads where I wasn't able to drive very fast, the exhaust was not overly loud; just plain annoying!
When I got home, I took it off and swapped the OE back in place. I figured that although I loved the sound, my sanity when towing was more important.
I drove the truck around for about 1 week and ended up swapping the Magnaflow back on. The truck was just too damn quiet and I missed the sound!
I figure I'll just suck it up when towing... even with the noise, it's still better than the stock exhaust!
I thought I would post this for those who are on the fence about putting a catback on and do lots of towing. It is not loud and does not drone but you definately know it is there! Cruising along it is fine but when getting up to speed, you will hear it!
I have found it is loudest when towing in overdrive. If you shut overdrive off and tow in 3rd, the RPM's get to a level where the exhaust quiets right down and you just barely hear it at all when cruising.

I tow our 6,500 lb. 26 ft. travel trailer with my 06 screw and I don't mind the 16612. Sure it gets louder at the higher RPMs but not so much that I would consider taking it off.
