Payload?

So, my 2007 Screw says 1,550# Payload. I assume that to calculate what I can haul in the bed means...

1,550 payload minus...

220 pounds (full fuel tank)
460 pounds (people mass)
100 pounds (miscellaneous)
320 pounds (trailer tongue weight)
200 pounds (Camper Shell)
75 pounds (3/4" Plywood and Bed Mat)
75 pounds (firewood)
300 pounds (Cargo, Luggage, Camping Stuff)

Which means I am actually 200 pounds over the actual payload.

Is this correct, or does the Payload assume you have a full tank already?

Thanks,

Smoke

No it doesn't assume fuel.
So, you are over but, look at the brightside.....
when you run out of gas you will be within your payload limits.

I wouldn't be concerned with being 300 lbs over, a ton over would be cause for concern.

At least you don't have it as bad as some of the smaller four doors with a bed.

I think it was the Sporttrac with 4 passengers had enough payload left to toss three bag lunchs in the back, so somebody was going hungry.
In those vehicles it's either/or.
Passengers or junk but not both.

Thanks Raoul,

I am wondering if I need to get an anti-swy weight distribution to haul my pop-up this spring. I hate to spend the money as I may even consider going "Superduty" again in the fall, and with that set-up, I won't need it. I guess I could sell it for a resonable price, though.

Not needed for even the biggest pop-up.
Save your money.

Yep, just make sure there are no bugs in the firewood.
You'll can also move any passengers you don't like into the popup.

All that stuff you mention is 'payload', so the figure is pretty much correct. All of that was not there when you picked up the truck, right?

Actually, I think a full tank of gas is accounted for and even a #150 driver??? Depends on the fine print on the disclaimer page, and you have to read it all to be sure...

Now, once you load all that stuff up and physically weigh the truck and if you are still below the trucks GVWR, then that's what the tongue weight of any trailer you get can be...

In all truth, I run a 'tad' over my trucks GVWR when I'm all hitched up and ready to roll.... Do I worry about it?? NO.... I know my truck and know what it likes and does not like....

Over 170,000 miles on the thing and I've been towing the trailer in my sig since July of 2002...

I'd love to, but there is no place to "store" things when hauling the trailer. The box is basically filled with the slide-out unit and the fold-out sofa. And, the additional weight the trailer can carry as cargo is peanuts, which is already eaten up by the front storage trunk/compartment that is already adding undesired weight to the tongue-weight. Thanks for the thoughts, though.
