I would probably buy one a little stronger than that if you're gonna be pulling big trailers/snatching in mud, but if you're just gonna pull small stuff, it will probably be fine. That's a cheap reciever hitch. If the bolt holes line up it will be a piece of cake to install. Don't sweat it. But the wiring is the tricky part. Not hard, but you have to understand it.

I put a Hidden Hitch on my Explorer. It bolted to holes already in the frame. Very easy.

The Hidden Hitch is what I have but the bigger version. My hitch is rated at 6,000 lbs weight carrying capacity and add a weight distributing hitch and it goes up to 10,000. The one you are looking at would not be a good idea if you plan on towing frequently or anything remotely big. I say go with Hidden, just get the higher class. And it is a sinch to put on. I believe it was 6 bolts mounted to holes already in the frame of the truck.

I went to Uhaul and they installed a nice receiver for about that same price.

WC was 600/6000 with a WDH 1000/10000

I ordered an equal-i-zer hitch from www.rvwholesalers.com for the WDH and anti-sway.

I'd probably get this one, if I had to choose from those.Reciever Hitch

I'm not a fan of W/D hitches myself. If your load is heavy enough to warrant that, then you need a gooseneck hitch. They're a lot more stable. But people here seem to have a hard time finding small gooseneck trailers.

If trailer has electric brakes and a brake-away battery the 4 pin to 7 pin won't work the batt. charge or brakes unless you add 2 wires from front to plug.

This actually may not be correct. If I'm not mistaken, Ford does have the electric brake wired into that factory harness, they just don't have the 7-pin plug installed. If you look at the picture of the link he gave us, you see where the wire harness ends right near the spare tire on the frame. The electronic brake should be wired all the way from the front of the truck to this location. Ford simply doesn't use the 7-pin from this spot to the bumper and only includes the 4-pin plug. You should be able to buy that harness and simply plug it in and have the 7-pin setup. You will then need the brake controller that should plug right into an adapter located under your steering wheel. I could be all wrong on this as well. Maybe it's only on the new Fords that they include the brake wire all the way back, but I know they DO run the wires on the new trucks.

EDIT: If you really want to know if you'll have to run new wires or not, climb under your truck and look for yourself. At that connection, count how many wires are in the factory plug. If there is only 4, you will be runnning new wires from the front of the truck

I don't have a camera on me, but I just checked for mine and I think it's the grey plug above the diagnostics plug. My truck is an 03 scab.
