Arrow How

Ok, I have a '85 F250 with a 460, C6, and 3.55s in a 10.25".

I might get a free 27' 5th wheel from my Uncle, and wanted to confirm that I can handle it.

I have a 8600lbs GVW and 2680 Rear...

With that motor I don't see it being a problem, the only problem will be the amount of gas that you will be using to haul that thing with the 460. You are going to know that the camper is back there. Good luck.

I have no idea how I titled the thread "How"

I should probably mention that the trailer is currently hooked to a 1982 F250 with a 302, with I believe a C5 and probably just a 9".

The 460 is great. I get 12mpg driving like grandma. I get 12mpg drag racing. I get 12mpg loaded and get (yep, guessed it) 12mpg towing.

People complain about gas mileage and I understand (I drive for a living) but when we're talking about moving 5tons of steel down the highway, it really isn't my biggest concern, if ya know what I mean....

Now, can anyone recomend a good hitch?

Thats funny, I thought I was starting to read a new thread. I don't know anything at all about towing a fifth wheel, but I have heard others on here talk about one that Reese has, so you may want to check them out. You can also use search and find a lot of info too. I am sure someone else will chime in soon and help you out as well. My step dad had an old '78 with a professionally built 460 and that thing was awsome, he had it before he had the motor rebuilt too and all I remember is that thing had a ton of power. Good luck.
