engine swap

i have a nasty old beat up f150 work truck with about 220K miles on it. it's been great as i can carry anything , leave the windows open and not give a damn about scratches and dings. it has a 300 six/5 speed in it that isnt up to the task i need it for now (towing a race car long distances) I know i should get rid of it and buy another truck but i just like it to much. does it take a lot of custom fabrication to drop one of fords big block engines into it. i see PAW sells a 460 long block pretty cheap and was wondering if motor mounts etc would need to be moved or if there is a conversion kit available. any leads would be appreciated.
thanks
greg

Man, I have done the kind of swap that you are talking about...only back when it was simpler because there were no computer controls and fuel injection to contend with. You might not want to hear this, but you are getting ready to dump about $5000 into a $1500 truck....Don't do it. An engine swap from a 300 to a 460 WILL find EVERY week spot in that drive train. It will start with that M50 transmission......not a good idea to try to put the torque output of a 460 in front of that tranny (even if you find an adapter). It's the same one that's in the 4.0L Rangers.

Find yourself an F250 with a 460 already in it. Think like this....no matter how much POWER you give an F150, it's still an F150. The brakes, axles and chassis of an F250 will be better suited for towing your car LONG distances.

Sidewinder,

Not to mention you'll having nothing left of your GVRW when you drop that in there...

Like he said, better to buy a complete F250 with a 460 in it. The fuel injected ones are going for less than $5k now in good condition.

My sister had a 91 250 with the 460 in it. That thing was a monster.
