X27 Axle?

Thanks for all the help guys! We went ahead with purchasing the 2001 F150. I see that the axle ratio is marked as an X27. That wasn't one of the choices you guys presented me with?

What does the X27 mean in a 2001 F150 XLT Supercab?

We didn't get an owners manual so I'm hoping to pick one up very soon.

I just love the truck -- it handles like a dream on the highway (although it sucks slightly more gas than a Saturn LS... I had a brief moment of sticker shock gassing it up this weekend).

The Class III hitch is on and wiring is in progress for lights and electric brake controller, and we go pick the new 16' stock trailer up in Southern Ontario this Saturday -- I'm thinking that's my Mother's Day present this year!

Axle code 27 for the F-250 is a 3.31 non-LS.
Is this a F-150 7700? How many lugs on the wheels?

Ummm... it's an F150 4x2 2001... 4.6L 8 cyl. If lugs are the "bumps" on the rim centre cover, there are 5.

I have a 1999 model and based my limited knowledge on those codes.

A 3.31 open axle wasn't available then.
Apparently that's what you have.
Give it a go and if you don't like the results, you can always use your 'insiders deal' to get better gearing.

Congrats on the new truck.

My 2000 F150XLT Supercab 4x4 has that axle code and ratio. IMHO works great with the 5.4.
