I know U-Haul sells them plus trailer sales stores if any are around you.

You may also want to think about a tranny cooler. Hitches are cheap, trannys are not.

I have a factory tranny cooler, also im willin to spend the extra gas $ and not use overdrive. pulled a loaded tandem car trailer with a Ram 4.7. i believe thats the 318. from Western NE to Elko, NV in one day. w/o the overdrive on, 120K and no problems, so my ford better be able to duplicate that. mines only got 33K. How much coin am i gonna have to drop for a hitch? all my other pickups came with them already on so i never really researched. thanks.

Don't really be too focused on what "class" a hitch is.... The factory tow package hitch from the factory is technically a class 3 AND a class 4 hitch. The difference is what type of hitch setup you use.

"class 3" is when you just drop the tongue on the hitch and go. That rating is 500/5000 (max tongue weight/max trailer weight which is the same rating as the bumber hitch has). "class 4" is using the same frame mounted hitch, BUT using a Weight Distribution setup (those additional bars that attach to the hitch and have chains to the frame of the trailer) and your ratings go up to 1000/10000 respectively.

Now, you can find "class 3" hitches that have as much as 750/7500 and 1200/12000 respectively. The next size larger hitch is a "class 5" and they will usually have a 2.5" square receiver end in them and are rated even higher.

Hitches run from about $100-200 (class III/IV). Wiring harness is not included. Pick up the yellow pages, and start calling for the best prices. Part stores, TSC, Trailer/camper sales, even Wally world sells them. Installation is 4 bolts.

The big names that come to mind are U-haul, Reese, hidden hitch

On mine it's 8 bolts......

GI Joes has a 750/7500 rated hitch for around $150.00. It's the same design as the factory one, so that only the receiver end is below the bumper.
