towing camp

Just wanted to know how the Screws do towing. I have 2001 screw 5.4 4x4 3.55 gears. Just wondered how heavy a camper I could pull with a half ton and if the extra cab length and short shortbed caused any handeling characteristics different then say a reg cab long bed?. Does the 5.4 have enough power to pull safely and comfortably.? I am used to pulling camper with 3/4 ford w/ 460 auto. I bought this truck to haul the family and would like to pull camper if it has enough "stuff". Thanks.

I've got a 2001 Scab with 5.4l, 2 wheel and 3.73 and I pull a 27ft with no problems. We have done most of the eastern seaboard and I've never had any worries pulling it.

To figure out how much trailer you can safely pull simply look up the trucks GCWR and subtract out the truck weight, weight of passengers, water, food, clothes, etc. Whatever is left (with a safety margin) is the dry weight of what you can pull.
