Question towing with overdrive question

I have a question about overdrive? I have heard that you cannot tow with over drive and that you can. I am wondering which is true? I have an F-250 SD 4X4 with a 7.3L automatic.I am going to be towing a 19' camper trailer. Can someone please clear this up? I don't want to mess up my transmission.

Thanks in advance

Turn it off if it hunts continually between gears. Do your transmission a favor and avoid the heat buildup.

That's it. No harm to transmission when it isn't shifting. So, if it shifts a lot based on your speed and load, disable overdrive. But I suspect a PSD will have no problems towing a 19' trailer in overdrive on most terrain
