This is the e-mail I sent you:

Hi there!

I would love to help you out but it would be to costly to ship the helper springs to you. I live in the Toronto area so there's some distance between us.

You should be able to find the springs (Hellwig HP-25) locally or get a leaf spring added. Actually, an 18' boat shouldn't have alot of tounge weight so you may not even need the "help". Try phoning a boat place and ask about tounge weight and get their opinion but I don't think you will have a problem towing this with what you have.

You have the factory towing package and there should be a tranmission cooler so your off to the races. One thing I'm not sure of is if there are electric brakes on the trailer? If the trailer has electric brakes (this uses the big round plug and not the 4 pin plug) then you will need a brake controller.

Thanks for the info. I took your advice and called a local marina. They said that I wouldn't require any additional support in the suspension for that small of a boat. I do have the tranny cooler. Since I bought the truck with 84,000 miles on it and don't know the history, I am having my tranny place perform a complete transmission check and flush all the fluid. (I have the same tranny in my mustang and had to have it rebuilt due to the previous owner not changing the fluid...I added more power...blew up the torque converter)

I have a brake controller already installed...but the trailer does not have brakes anyway...

Do you think that this will be a problem for the factory brakes on a 1200 mile tow.......I will obviously have to take it easy...

Shouldn't be a problem, just take it easy!

Oh, good idea getting the fluid changed. You may want to look at a new filter as well.

Oh definately. After all was said and done with the Mustang I had spent over $2000.00 in upgraded parts and labor in that transmission and got to know the guys at the tranny place pretty well....
so they are going to replace all the fluid, filter, and make sure that everything else is good to go all for $100.00. (They normally charge $150.00 for that.)

Again, thanks for your advice. I am glad I found these forums.
