Added the 7 pin, still no power for the brakes....HELP
Ok, this question is for those of you that have upgraded to the factory 7 pin trailer harness.
I have installed the new harness, all of the fuses are in the power distribution box, I have inserted the two relay's also. I have power coming into my Tekonsha Sentinal brake controller, but I have nothing coming out on the blue wire. The controller is leve, and the gain is as high as it can go...but still no brake power. I also have to power at the plug in on the rear of my truck.
Hopefully somebody can answer my question, because I am lost, and don't know were to go next. Other than having a bad controller, (I doubt it, it is a new Tekonsha Sentinal), I can't think of why it will not work.
Thanks!
Carl

You didn't say whether you trailer was plugged in, but you may not have power to the circuit until:
A) the trailer is plugged in
2) the truck/trailer are moving when the brakes are applied
Do you have an indicator lit on the controller when the trailer is plugged in?

Jimb,
I have only my level light working. The Sentinal has a brake power meter, and no lights power up on it. I have hooked to the trailer, and I do not get the "whine" sound from the trailer axles that normally occurs when the brakes are applied. Also, when I use the brake slide on the controller, I get no brakes on the trailer either. Any other ideas?

When you say this:
"I have power coming into my Tekonsha Sentinal brake controller, but I have nothing coming out on the blue wire". Is that no power out of the controllers blue wire or after it's plugged into the trucks system and no power coming out of the trucks blue wire?
"I also have to power at the plug in on the rear of my truck. ". Does this mean you have power on the 'trailer brake' pin at the plug on the truck or just power to the lights?
If power is getting to the plug, but not the trailer, you might have a problem with the wiring in the trailer?
Since it sounds like you had to add the 7 pin plug, maybe there is an issue with it? Check to make sure you have good ground too. I know that it's usually 99% of electrical issues, especially when dealing with trailer wiring.....
Good luck!
