Towing
Towing
I think I know the answer to this but...
I'm trying to sell my 1968 Thunderbird (any takers??
). And when I do, I may want to meet the buyer, towing it to a rendezvous. It weighs about 4400 lbs.
I have a 2000 Expy EB with 5.4L, 3.55 gears, towing package and load leveling suspension.
The truck should be able to handle that, correct? I don't want to come near the max towing weight because I don't think it's safe, from what I've read on posts so far.
Anything to beware of?
TIA.

The one thing you didn't include in your post is 'how' you're gonna tow the T-Bird (i.e. towbar, front wheel dolly, or trailer). I wouldn't think you'd have any problem towing this load. I have a 2001 SuperCrew (5.4L, Auto. 3.73 rear, tow pack, heavy duty cooling) and I regularly tow two different trailers for work that are somewhere around 5,500 lbs a piece. If you have the option, try to tow the car on a trailer 'with' trailer brakes. I'd think the additional braking would help you as much as anything. Good luck.
You shouldn't have any problems with that I am pretty sure the Expy has a bit lower tow rating than the F150 but you shouold check your owners manula it should tell you what the max is.Just off the top of my head I think it is 7200lbs.
