air bag for leveling?

I have a buddy with an 03'F250 that has the camper certification package.

He is looking into getting a in- bed camper and needed to know if air bags are needed to help with the leveling of the camper.

If so what type or recommendations would you suggest.
Thanks!

I'd probably put a set of progressive rate helper springs on instead. Hellwig makes some great models. PhilipSVT has mentioned he has a set on his truck, I've used them on previous ones. The best thing about them is that they only take a load when you have one, so when you aren't loaded the ride is like stock. Most installs require no drilling.

Check them out

Thumbs up

I would vote for the Hellwig's too. Got them on my rig and they really do keep the rear from dropping when loaded.

On a F250, it could already have 'factory' overload springs, so check that out first.

Airbags are fine too, but cost more and require drilling, plumbing etc.

Firestone bags are the only way to go.

Should be about $200 for parts without compressor. (just keep one of those little cigarette lighter compressors in the camper)

I like the airbags.I had 2 valve stems put in the bumper for quick air in air out until I had gottem my compressor. They worked great for towing an heavy loads.
