Sync3 update carplay question
Sync3 update carplay question
Hello everyone.2016 F150 XLT sport. Reading through these post on here trying to figure out the Sync3 update. I am trying to figure out how to get the carplay.
I have the 8inch screen. I downloaded V2.0 to a USB drive. Then also downloaded V3.0 to another USB. I now have Sync3 V3.0. But I read that everyone has Carplay.
My update show Android option, but I have a Iphone. So question is how do I get the Carplay? Do I need to upgrade the USB port? Thank you for any help.

Yes, on 2016 F-150, the original USB hub doesn’t support Apple CarPlay. Updating SYNC 3 to v3.0 only enables it in the software, but if the hardware isn’t compatible, CarPlay won’t show up.
If you only see Android Auto and no CarPlay option, that’s a strong sign you have the older USB hub. Replacing it with a CarPlay-compatible hub is the fix. Once it’s swapped, plug in your iPhone and CarPlay should work without any extra programming.
