The "Dark Assassin"
I think the grey flares gave it a two tone look. The front and rear bumpers are also grey so the grey flares tied it all together. My truck has the two tone paint on the bottom, which allows the second color to flow all the way from the front bumper, over the fenders, and to the rear bumper. So, I can see where Ford was going with the grey flares but I can also see the reason to paint them black. Painting the bumpers black may also be needed to have a good match.

Who is your friend in factory stock? My crew chief raced our friends car last year while he took a year off with the new baby.
Finished 3rd in the points.
I will be at the race star booth all weekend
Rick Walsh and I also forgot about Alan Cann.
Rick finished 7th in points after only going to Bradenton and Kentucky. Just barely lost in the finals at Bradenton to Carlos. If he were able to travel more he'd definitely be a top contender in the class. Al finished 6th but he went to 5 or 6 events. His new modular motor is pretty sweet. Hopefully all of the kinks and tuning issues will be all worked out for this season.

I'm surprised no one has asked this yet, but why a Raptor for drag racing? Aren't you going to have to scrap that extremely expensive offroad suspension for a drag setup? Unless you're 1/4 mile racing through sand I don't see the point.
Subbed
Question....is the raptor pretty much the same (minus the looks and the off road gear) as a f150 lariat with the 6.2 in it? Like all the exhaust stuff that you are doing and blower you go with will all fit the f150?

It is an f150, so i guess you would say that.
I just didnt know if there were major differences between the two or if its just different body parts and suspension more or less. I am trying to figure what could be done with a lariat 6.2 4x4 but everything I read pertains to the raptor. Thanks...looking forward to your post and build!

i have the stock wheels btw!
Ohh no I was meaning I want to buy a f150 and get the 6.2l....not buying a raptor or turning a regular f150 into one. I am just wondering what sort of power/potential can be had with the 6.2l with tune exhaust and possibly a blower. Just wanted to make sure that the info I read for a raptor can translate to a regular f150 with the 6.2.

Oh and why would you choose a crew cab for drag racing? You planning on taking 3-4 people down the track with you? When I first started reading this I thought you were going to use it to tow you're other vehicle to and from the track (which still doesn't make much sense), but then I saw that you actually plan on drag racing it. Most people who build a vehicle for the sole purpose of drag racing choose a base model 2WD single cab. It's yours and your sponsors money that you're spending so have at it, but I just don't understand your choice of vehicle in this case.

As I said, it's not my money so it's not really a big deal. The choice of vehicle just doesn't make sense to me if the vehicle's sole purpose is to be competitive in NHRA drag racing.
